The former 98 Degrees singer popped the question on a California beach on Thursday, reports People.
"We're excited and incredibly happy about our engagement and we look forward to a wonderful future together," the couple said in a statement.
Lachey also confirmed rumours of a pending wedding on his Twitter page earlier this afternoon, writing: "Hey all. If anyone's heard the rumours of my engagement, they are absolutely true! Vanessa and I couldn't be happier. Thanks for all the love."
The pair have been dating since 2006, though they briefly broke up in 2009 before reuniting shortly after.
