James Frey's agent has dropped him after the controversy surrounding A Million Little Pieces.
Brillstein-Grey Entertainment literary manager Kassie Evashevski, who represented the author of A Million Little Pieces for more than four years, said she is not representing him anymore because of the inconsistencies in his 'memoirs'.
"In the last week, it became impossible for me to maintain a relationship once the trust had been broken," Evashevski told Publisher Weekly. "He eventually did apologise, but I felt for many reasons I had to let him go as a client."
The publisher originally took on the autobiographical account because she "thought the book was the most visceral and vivid description of drug addiction [she] had ever read."
She told the magazine that she did not believe that Frey had actually set out to con anyone, but also that she had had no knowledge of the lies and exaggerations contained in the memoirs.
