The Doors singer was convicted of indecent exposure and profanity in March 1969 after a concert in which he allegedly exposed himself on stage.
The rocker died in 1971 before he could serve jail time for the alleged incident.
According to The Hill, Florida governor Charlie Crist told Morrison's fans that he would consider clearing the singer's name, but he is now said to be seriously contemplating the pardon before he leaves office next year.
"Candidly, it's something that I haven't given a lot of thought to, but it's something I'm willing to look into in the time I have left," said Crist when asked about the issue.
He added: "Anything is possible."
