Speaking to Matt Lauer on The Today Show, Dina Lohan explained that Lindsay's time at the Betty Ford Centre has been a "life-changing" experience.
"She wants to start her own facilities, help other children," Dina said.
She added: "She's so public, we can only be positive and look to the future to help other families."
Lindsay is expected to leave the rehab centre on January 3, 2011.
