In an interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Katherine confessed that Michael had seemed offended when asked whether there was any truth to media coverage of his struggle with prescription pills.
"I spoke to him about the [drug reports] once... and he denied it. I was telling him that I didn't want to hear one day that he had overdosed, because it would break my heart and kill me too," she explained.
"He kept saying he wasn't on anything. He said, 'Mother, you don't believe me'. He kept saying, 'My own mother don't (sic) believe me'."
Michael died in June 2009 after going into cardiac arrest at his Los Angeles home.
