Bristol Palin comments on Levi mayoral bid

Bristol Palin has addressed her former fiancé Levi Johnston's bid to become mayor of Wasilla.

The Dancing With The Stars competitor was asked about Johnston's political aspirations during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday.

"Like I've said in previous interviews, he has to move to the city limits and get his GED before he can actually run but if he wants to continue his education that's great," she said.

DeGeneres then asked Palin if she thought Johnston, who is the father of her young son, knew about politics, to which the teenager replied: "No... he doesn't... It is an important position and I don't think he knows what he is getting himself into."

The host also asked whether Palin, the daughter of former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin, had noted Johnston having an interest in politics before. "No!" she replied.

Johnston announced his political ambitions earlier this year and recently insisted that he is serious about his bid, telling The View: "I feel like this is one of the biggest challenges of my life and I want to do it for myself and my son."
