BBC News reports that Fey received comedic tributes by former Saturday Night Live castmate Amy Poehler, 30 Rock co-stars Alec Baldwin and Tracy Morgan, and friend Steve Martin.
Martin jested about Fey's appearance by saying: "Isn't it refreshing to find a comedian who is both really good and funny looking?"
During her acceptance speech, Fey admitted that she never believed she would have been awarded with such a prestigious tribute.
She joked that she has always felt more likely to be given "the Judy Blume Prize for awkward puberty or the Harper Lee Prize for small bodies of work".
Previous honourees have included Bill Cosby, Lily Tomlin and Richard Pryor.
The ceremony will air on November 14 on PBS stations across the US.
