Dr Drew: 'Lovato rehab is commendable'

Dr Drew Pinsky has described Demi Lovato's decision to seek treatment for physical and emotional issues as 'commendable'.

During an appearance on MTV's The Seven, the Celebrity Rehab host praised Lovato's decision to take control of her well-being.

"Demi should be commended for having gone for treatment and help," he said.

"Just because somebody has a medical problem, we shouldn't, in any way, judge or condemn them. We should really acknowledge and really support them for being a good role model for taking care of themselves."

Dr Drew also speculated on the type of treatment Lovato could be receiving.

"It sounds like she may have been admitted to a psychiatric hospital because the kinds of issues that are being discussed are around depression, cutting - really psychiatric issues," he explained.

"Unless she was doing drugs, she's not going to rehab. Rehab is for chemical dependency exclusively."

A rep for Lovato recently denied reports that she had been using drugs and alcohol prior to her admission to rehab.
