The 'Bad Romance' singer apparently took legal action after she was sent a letter from 26-year-old Anastasia Obukhova.
Obukhova, a student, allegedly wrote to GaGa: "You come to my dreams. I want to die and I want to die together with you. I am not Mark Chapman. It is not only you who will die. I will shoot a bullet through my head, too."
Chapman was jailed for 25 years after murdering John Lennon outside of the former Beatle's New York apartment in 1980.
Obukhova told The Sun: "I was once only a metre away from Lady GaGa. GaGa is one of the most free people in the world."
It is thought that the fan has been warned not to come within 500 yards of GaGa.
