The actor was found guilty in 2008 of wilful failure to file his income tax returns to the US government.
According to The AP, the star's attorneys have requested that Snipes's bond be revoked if a new trial is granted.
The lawyers claim that a new trial is in order because jurors in Snipes's 2008 trial had already decided, before hearing any evidence, that he was guilty of not filing his federal tax returns. They also say that the prosecution hid information about a witness in the original trial.
The Blade actor, who is free on bond while appealing the ruling, could face up to three years in prison.
