Simpson engagement ring "represents love"

The singer announced her engagement to boyfriend Eric Johnson on Sunday.
“Eric wanted the most romantic, beautiful, special ring for Jessica,” Lane told People.
“The ruby is a stone of love and it is the most romantic gem and it’s very rare and very, very special.”
The ring features the 5 carat gem - which is also Simpson's birthstone - as well as two pear-shaped diamonds.
