Robert Blake has filed for bankruptcy two months after a court found him liable for killing his wife, according to BBC News Online.
The civil court ordered the actor to pay £17m to Bonny Lee Bakley's children, saying he "intentionally caused" her 2001 death. Bakley was found shot dead inside her husband's car after a meal out.
Blake was acquitted of her murder in a criminal trial last March, and has consistently denied his involvement in Bakley's death, saying he had returned to the restaurant, leaving a handgun he carried for protection in the car.
The bankruptcy filing states Blake only has assets of £341,808, and cannot afford to pay either the £17m or a £750,000 federal tax bill which he has also received.
