Parents 'think kids idolise Cheryl Cole'

Parents believe that Cheryl Cole is the most idolised celebrity among their children, a new survey has shown.

The poll of 2,000 parents conducted for online video broadcaster Parentchannel.tv put the X Factor judge at the top of the list of celebrities idolised by their children.

When asked who was their child's celebrity idol, David Beckham came second and Lady GaGa third.

Jacqueline Harding at Parentchannel.tv said: "Some may feel that focusing on celebrities may be an exercise in futility, but an interest in celebrity culture might lead to other interests.

"For example if your child's interested in becoming a pop star this could lead to encouraging them to learn a new instrument."
