A new stage musical based on the life of Frank Sinatra has taken £1.5 million before it even opens.
Sinatra at the London Palladium has already taken the vast sum in advance sales before it opens in the West End district on March 6. The show's particular hook, it seems, is that it claims to resurrect Ol' Blue Eyes through previously unseen footage projected onto moving screens while dancers and singers move around them.
Producer Nick Salmon says: "The chance to see original footage of Frank giving performances of his classic songs when he was in his prime is proving very popular.
"I knew it would attract interest but the response has been overwhelming.
"It's wonderfully encouraging as it's the sort of show that no one has seen before."
The show will feature well-loved songs such as My Way and Fly Me to the Moon.
