Peter Andre undergoing hospital tests

Peter Andre is undergoing "extensive tests and scans" after being rushed to hospital suffering from "excruciating pain" this morning, it has been confirmed.

Katie Price revealed that her ex-husband had taken ill in a message on her Twitter feed. A full statement has now confirmed the news on Andre's official website.

The singer - who recently discussed his ongoing health problems - was due to begin his UK tour in Plymouth tonight.

"We are very worried about Peter and at present we do not know what is causing him to be in so much pain," his manager Claire Powell said. "Peter is terribly disappointed that he is unable to perform at tonight's sold out opening night."

She continued: "At this time we have no more information, though we are hoping Peter will be able to perform at Minehead tomorrow as planned."

Responding to Price's tweet which asked why the press needed to be informed, Powell hit back: "The reason why is because he has a sell out arena tour starting tonight and his fans need to know not to turn up for the Plymouth show (sic)."

Tonight's tour date at the Plymouth Pavilions has been rescheduled for December 21.
