In an interview with The Morning Mash Up on Sirius XM, Simpson admitted that she was watching the NBC drama at the time Johnson wanted to ask her to marry him.
The former NFL player "made me pause it", the popstar explained.
She continued: "I was like, 'It's a really good part in Parenthood… it's an emotional fight right now'. [Eric's] like, 'I know, but I just got to show you something'."
Johnson handed her a Neil Lane ruby-and-diamond engagement ring after she paused the show.
Simpson went on to say that she was shaking and short of breath during the proposal.
"It was definitely one of those moments where I’ve never felt that way before, ever," the singer added.
