Tom Sizemore has been spared jail after breaking his probation.

The Saving Private Ryan star had faced a prison sentence of up to 16 months. He admitted using methamphetamine while already on probation for possessing the drug previously.

However, Sizemore was not sent to jail, rather given three years' further probation, weekly drug testing and 90 days in a rehab facility he cannot leave, says BBC News Online.

Sizemore's original probation was revoked in July 2005 after he attempted to fake a drug test by using a prosthetic device, although it was later reinstated in October by another judge.

In January 2006, the 44-year-old admitted to his parole officer that he was back on methamphetamine, explaining: "I didn't want to tell her the truth initially. But I [thought], you know what? This is that moment where you're either starting to get it or not get it. You know, it's called surrender.

"Once you [acknowledge] it, there's a great relief, because now you started the first step in this horror show for mending."
