Janet Jackson has been told to lose weight by her record label, or else she will face being dropped.

Apparently since her famous "wardrobe malfunction" at the 2004 Superbowl, in which she exposed her bare breast to the millions that watched the show, her career has taken a nose-dive. Her last album Damita Jo was not overly successful, and according to PageSix.com a source close to the star has said that she has taken solace in food.

The source also revealed that Jackson's record label, Virgin, is so concerned over her weight that they have hired a personal trainer ahead of promotion for her latest album: "Janet had a really bad year. This new album is supposed to be pretty good, but Virgin feels it can't market it without Janet being back in fighting form, so they have hired her a personal trainer and put her on a diet.

"She has to lose at least 20 pounds."

But a different source close to the singer insists there's nothing to worry about: "Janet always gains weight when she's not working - and always loses it in time to promote her albums. Janet always takes care of it when it matters."
