The Guardian reports that Charlie Gilmour was arrested earlier today under suspicion of disorderly conduct and attempted criminal damage. Gilmour had been marching in London to protest against the government's recent decision to raise student tuition fees.
"He was arrested by officers from Operation Malone on suspicion of violent disorder and attempted criminal damage of the Union flag on the Cenotaph on December 9," a statement from the Metropolitan Police read. "He was taken to a Sussex police station where he has been further arrested on suspicion of theft."
Gilmour was the thirty-fifth person to be arrested during the protest on Thursday, and has since publicly apologised for his behaviour.
