Helen Baxendale 'fled from knifeman'

Helen Baxendale has revealed that she was recently forced to run for her life after she encountered a knifeman in South Africa.

The former Cold Feet star was in Cape Town shooting upcoming ITV thriller Kidnap and Ransom when she was confronted by a man wielding a blade.

According to The Sun, Baxendale admitted that she regrets not listening to show producers, who had advised the cast and crew not to venture out onto the dangerous streets.

"We were warned not to go out but we did," she recalled. "Somebody showed me a knife and we ran. I was really scared. I thought, 'What an idiot, not to have heeded the warning.'"

She added: "South Africa is an amazing country but obviously there are still a lot of problems."

Kidnap and Ransom airs next year.
