Bernhard: 'I never slept with Madonna'

Sandra Bernhard has insisted that she never had a sexual relationship with Madonna.

The pair became close friends in the '80s but the comedienne said that the outlandish behaviour which originally sparked the rumours was simply for show.

"I didn't sleep with Madonna," she told LGBT site dot429.

"We were pulling everybody's chains, creating a media frenzy."

Bernhard added that she and Madonna have not had contact for many years, revealing: "We were friends. We don't speak anymore.

"I keep my friends my whole life, but Madonna feels differently."
