Carpenter files for divorce from Hall

Jennifer Carpenter has officially filed for divorce from Michael C. Hall.

The pair announced that they had split and were filing for divorce earlier this week.

Hall and Carpenter, who play brother and sister Dexter and Deborah Morgan on Showtime’s Dexter, have been married for two years.

Carpenter cited "irreconcilable differences" in the official petition she filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, according to US magazine. The actress is seeking spousal support.

According to the divorce documents, the couple have been separated since last August.

Actress Julia Stiles, who appeared in the recently wrapped fifth season of Dexter, released a statement on Thursday to dispel potential rumours that she had something to do with the pending divorce.

"I have absolutely nothing to do with the split between Michael and Jennifer. We are good friends and enjoyed working together," her statement read.
