Palin 'glad Johnston has new girlfriend'

Bristol Palin says that she is glad that former fiancé Levi Johnston has a new girlfriend as he has begin to show more interest in their son since the relationship began.

Palin and Johnston were previously been engaged twice and have a 1-year-old son together called Tripp, but ended their relationship for good in July earlier this year.

The former Dancing With The Stars competitor claims that Johnston's new relationship with Sunny Oglesby has already had a positive influence on his parenting skills.

"I have to be happy for Levi's new relationship because it sounds like his girlfriend is influencing him to want to actually spend time with Tripp," Palin told E! News.

"I sincerely appreciate her influence because [Johnston] hasn't asked to see Tripp in over five months, so I'm happy for this new development!" she added.

Earlier this year Johnston announced plans to run for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska in next year's election.
