During an appearance on Fox's Good Day LA on Tuesday morning, the comedian said that he plans to run for office eight years from now.
Lopez asked: "If Arnold Schwarzenegger can be governor... why can't George Lopez be the mayor of Los Angeles?"
The late-night chatshow host said that he was serious about his political aspirations, but added that he wouldn't be able to pass the "background check" to run for mayor right now.
