Both actresses have been asked to star in William Mastrosimone's play Extremeties. The play is centred on a woman who "turns the tables" on a would-be rapist, and then struggles to decide what to do with the man, along with her two roommates.
Sevigny has yet to sign for the role, telling Entertainment Weekly: "I was reading it and I'm kind of seeing how the cast is gonna pan out. I know the director is great but I feel like the cast has gotta be real strong. And it's such a commitment."
Reports suggest that Matt Dillon was approached for the role of the rapist, but the actor had to decline due to scheduling conflicts.
Kenny Leon will direct the play, set to be premiered either this season or the 2011-12 season.
Susan Sarandon and Farrah Fawcett have appeared in past productions of the show.
