Murray stands accused of being involved in the drugs overdose that led to the death of his celebrity patient in June 2009.
TMZ reports that the hearing will last for two weeks and approximately 30 witnesses will be called to testify.
The site reports that prosecutors will aim to argue that Murray "acted recklessly by medicating Michael with Propofol and other drugs at his home the day he died".
Reports suggest that the witnesses will include various medical experts, as well as three LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) detectives who investigated the case.
Murray was briefly blocked from administering other patients with heavy sedatives by the California Medical Board, but at present is still allowed to practise medicine while he awaits trial.
