The performer died in his hotel room in St. Petersburg, Russia following a show the previous night.
His agent John Seine told Reuters: "He did a show last night as part of Bobby Farrell's Boney M and they found him this morning dead in his hotel room. He did not feel well last night, and was having problems with his breathing, but he did the show anyway."
Farrell was famous for his flamboyant stage presence, as well as his lip-synching to various songs from the hugely popular group - whose hits included 'Rivers of Babylon', 'Rasputin' and 'Mary's Boy Child'.
The singer's cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
