The Rolling Stones guitarist has been in rehab on several occasions over the last three decades, and is currently six months sober from drugs and alcohol.
Wood told Uncut that he aims to repay the help his son gave him through his own stints in treatment.
"Jesse's going through rehab. We're helping each other out. I'm over six months clean and good with it," he said.
"Boredom is a killer as is the idea that I can always have just one drink. Once I got rid of that, I could take my life back and be more focused at everything, my music and my painting."
