Craven: 'Arquette was in a lot of pain'

Wes Craven has revealed that he approves of David Arquette's decision to enter rehab.

Craven recently directed Arquette in Scream 4, which is currently in the final stages of post-production. Craven spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the troubled actor, who split from his wife and Scream 4 co-star Courteney Cox in October.

"Those are both very professional people," he said of Cox and Arquette. "I'm glad to hear that David is going into rehab.

"I saw him a little bit more because he was present during more of the shoot than Courteney. He was in a lot of pain, so it’s good that he’s getting some help."

Craven went on to speak about the couple's separation, saying that it did not occur due to a lack of love.

"I don't know what their problems are," Craven admitted. "But it's not that they hate each other that's for sure. It's something else."

Scream 4 opens in theatres on April 15.
