Sheryl Crow has undergone an operation for breast cancer, leaving doctors optimistic for progress.
The "minimally invasive" surgery took place in Los Angeles on Wednesday, the singer's publicist revealed. She will now have radiation therapy.
Forty-four-year-old Crow said she has benefited from early detection of her condition. Following the operation her publicist said: "Her doctors think her prognosis is excellent."
Crow left her fiancé, who has previously fought cancer himself, three weeks ago. He also confirmed her chances of beating the condition are good. "I am confident that she will have a full and complete recovery," he explained. "And the world will be a better place for it."
Her North American tour, which was due to begin next month, has been postponed.
