The 93-year-old screen legend was taken to hospital earlier this week, with reports claiming that she might need the lower half of one leg removed to prevent a blood clot from spreading.
Her husband Prince Frederic von Anhalt has since told HLN's The Joy Behar Show that Gabor is currently on "strong" antibiotics and that doctors are waiting to see if the medication improves her condition before making a final decision on amputation.
Gabor's spokesperson John Blanchette told BBC News that the antibiotics would last for around two to three days and that the actress would have her right leg amputated below the knee if the treatment was unsuccessful.
Von Anhalt added to Behar that Gabor, who celebrates her 94th birthday next month, was currently unaware that amputation was a possibility.
