The Scottish singer-songwriter, who became famous for tracks such as 'Baker Street' and 'Get it Right Next Time', passed away peacefully at home with his daughter Martha this morning, his family said.
Rafferty started out in the music industry as part of The Humblebums, working with comedian Billy Connolly prior to embarking on a career as a solo artist.
In 1971 he made his first album, before going on to found Stealers Wheel and release their biggest hit 'Stuck in the Middle With You', which was later used in the iconic torture scene in Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs.
Rafferty is survived by his brother Jim, daughter Martha and granddaughter Celia.
