The Beastie Boys star was diagnosed with the illness in July 2009 after he was discovered to have a tumour on his partoid gland.
During an interview on Radio 1, as reported by WENN, bandmate Mike D said that the news is "a good thing".
"We're very happy about it," he added.
The Beastie Boys recently admitted that they are unsure whether they will go on tour to support their upcoming album.
