Fellow bandmember Mike D was recently interviewed by Zane Lowe on Radio 1 and claimed that Yauch had received the all-clear from the disease.
However, Yauch has now been forced to release a corrective statement after media outlets interpreted Mike D's comments as implying that Yauch was completely cured.
"While I'm grateful for all the positive energy people are sending my way, reports of my being totally cancer-free are exaggerated," Yauch said, according to Undercover FM. "I'm continuing treatment, staying optimistic, and hoping to be cancer-free in the near future."
Despite Yauch's health issues, the Beastie Boys are currently working on two new studio albums due to be released over the course of the year.
