Kerry Katona has insisted that a strict exercise regime has helped her to turn her life around over the last year.

The 32-year-old - who split from her second husband Mark Croft in 2010 - told Star magazine that she "won't waste" the progress she has made to allow her recent TV comeback.

"I'll never go back to Mark or anything like that. Never in a million years," she said. "Been there, done that, bought the book… I want to stay healthy."

She continued: "I was never an addict. It was the people I was surrounded by. I will never let myself get in that situation in again. I will never let someone take control of my life again. I have my life, my kids. I won't waste it again.

"I was a fat, lazy, cow who ate crap, didn't exercise. I was really unhealthy until I went to boot camp and exercised - it changed my life. It's not just what you weigh, it’s about making yourself feel good."

The former singer, who made a successful Dancing On Ice debut on Sunday, also claimed that she does not need another man in her life.

"I've got a man - my son Max," she added. "I'm so content – I haven't got time to be sad or lonely. You put one kid to bed and another wakes up and that one cries and you run all over the place. I take the kids to school, go to work and do what I have to do."

The full story is in this week's Star magazine, out today.
