Jewel, Ty Murray expecting first child

Jewel has revealed that she is expecting her first child with husband Ty Murray.

The singer teased fans on her Twitter account that she had "exciting news" to share before posting a link to an interview with People in which the couple announced the pregnancy.

"Yes, many of you guessed it - I'm pregnant!" she added. "Ty and I r so excited! (sic)"

Jewel, who is currently working on the new Bravo show Going Platinum, married rodeo champion Murray at a ceremony in the Bahamas in 2008. The magazine reports that the pair have been trying to have a baby since the wedding.

Murray spoke about their desire to start a family back in 2009, saying: "In a perfect world, it would be great to have a little boy and a little girl, but you don't get to do it like that. We're trying not to focus on it too much. We're just trying to live our life and go about our life. When it should happen, it will happen."

Jewel released Lullaby, a collection of nursery rhymes and lullabies, in 2009.
