Keira Knightley, Rupert Friend split?

Keira Knightley and boyfriend Rupert Friend have reportedly broken up.

The couple, who met on the set of 2005's Pride & Prejudice, reached a mutual decision to go their separate ways just before Christmas, according to The Sun.

Knightley's father Will confirmed: "Yes, they have broken up. That's the way things go, unfortunately.

"They were together for quite a long time and it is always hard breaking up. The only option is to get on with things. She's focused on her work."

A friend told the publication that the media focus on Knightley put the pair's relationship under strain.

"Rupert hates the idea of being followed and photographed," the insider said. "Keira partially had to accept it because of her rising profile.

"It affected the harmony in the relationship. The pressure took its toll and both decided they should go their separate ways. They will remain life-long friends."

Last month, Knightley admitted that she found it difficult to cope with the attention of the media, claiming that fame had "broken something" in her.
