Tim McGraw 'got sober after drunk-texting'

Tim McGraw has revealed that he decided to get sober after discovering that he sent rambling text messages to wife Faith Hill while drunk.

Speaking to On The Red Carpet, the multi-platinum selling country music singer explained that he often used text messages as a way to hide his drinking from his spouse.

"I only learned how to text because back when I was drinking, I would get in trouble when I would call my wife and she would find out I was drinking," he said.

The Country Strong star continued: "Then I started slurring my texts and I figured hell, I gotta quit drinking. Thank God nobody knew anything about Skype back then - I would've never stayed out of trouble."

McGraw, who reportedly gave up alcohol three years ago, married Hill in 1996 and the couple have since become parents to three young daughters.

Country Strong is now playing in the US and is released on March 25 in the UK.
