Robbie Coltrane and Imelda Staunton have picked up their OBE honours from the Queen.

Coltrane joked about the ceremony, which se said was "an honour", while Staunton reiterated her surprise at being recognised.

Fifty-five-year-old Coltrane said it was "the first award where I didn't have to make a speech". The Cracker actor added: "Once you've been doing anything for 25 years people start to notice you."

Vera Drake star Staunton explained: "It's not as if it's something I ever thought I would get.

"It was a great shock. When I got it I thought: 'Why have I got that?'," she continued. "I've held down a job for 30 years and it's good for a profession that people don't last in."

Jazz artist John Dankworth picked up a knighthood at the ceremony.
