Glover speaks out in support of Gibson

Danny Glover has reportedly spoken out in support of his friend and fellow actor Mel Gibson.

Gibson has faced a storm of controversy over the past year after recordings were released of him verbally abusing his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

However, the star's former Lethal Weapon castmate Glover has come forward to suggest that Gibson is simply misunderstood.

"I love Mel. That's my friend," he told MTV News. "He's had tough times, we've all had tough times."

Glover also confirmed that he is still in touch with Gibson and that the Braveheart actor has been keeping a low profile until the controversy dies down.

"[Gibson is] a very generous man, a man that whatever he goes though, is always searching for something and searching for meaning in his life," he added.

Glover made the comments at this weekend's Sundance Film Festival, where he was screening his latest film Black Power Mixtape.
