During an appearance on Piers Morgan Tonight, the Oscar-winning actor was questioned as to whether his advocacy for the citizens of Sudan will lead to a bid for political office.
He replied: "Honestly, my job [as an actor] is as good as they get. Why would you change it?"
Clooney further explained that the opposition that US President Barack Obama has faced from opponents has discouraged his interest in government.
The star added: "The truth of the matter is - let's use the president that we have now as an example. In every way [he] wants to do the right thing. Kind. Considerate. Passionate.
"The guy I would want in charge and he's having a very, very hard time. Why would anyone want to be in any of those positions? I applaud anyone that goes into public service."
Last week, Clooney revealed that he recently contracted malaria for the second time.
His next film, director Alexander Payne's The Descendants, is currently scheduled to be released in the US later this year.
