Doctors will work to close a hole in the rocker's heart at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Centre in Phoenix, reports The AP.
Physicians discovered the hole in April when Michaels was being treated for a brain haemorrhage.
A closure device will be inserted into his heart to prevent abnormal blood flow between the two chambers of the organ. The procedure should prevent blood clots and another stroke from occurring.
In October, Michaels said that his health scare was "a blessing in disguise".
The singer got engaged to girlfriend Kristi Gibson last month.
