McAdams told RTE that the Annie Hall actress was a pleasure to work with on the set of director Roger Mitchell's comedy.
"She's so funny and talented and she always looks like a million bucks," she said.
The Notebook star further explained that she also learned a great deal about personal style from Keaton.
She said: "She gave me some great personal advice too. I said to her one day: 'You always look so fabulous in the mornings', while I would come to work dressed in sweatpants. She would always be in high heels and dresses and look so fantastic.
"I said: 'I always want to save my good stuff'. But Diane told me, 'There's no time like the present to break out all your best things. There's no point in saving it. It's there to be used and you need to treat every day that way'. I thought that was great because it's so true."
McAdams will next star with Owen Wilson and Marion Cotillard in Midnight In Paris, which is expected to be released in US cinemas later this year.
