Williams - who recently escaped homelessness and was offered several jobs as a result of his 'golden voice' - previously told Access Hollywood that Howard would be the perfect actor to portray him if a film were ever to be made about his experiences.
When asked about the role, Howard admitted that he was familiar with Williams's story and would not turn down an opportunity to be part of such a project.
"Well, I don’t have a sexy and sophisticated voice as he does, but his story is really compelling. It’s the Cinderella story," he said.
"Yeah, I would [consider it]. Am I that old yet? Tell Ted, ‘Thank you brother'. Thank you for the endorsement, man. Wow."
Howard went on to reveal his hope for Williams's future, adding: “[There’s] some doom and gloom, but the look in his eye is still powerful and I think he’s going to come alive."
