Jennifer Lopez has admitted that the birth of her twin children strengthened her marriage to Marc Anthony.

The American Idol judge admitted that she was not always as happy as she now is with Anthony, and credited her 2-year-old kids Max and Emme with uniting the couple.

She told In Touch magazine: "The kids made Marc and I stronger... There have been tough times. Having kids made us both see that there's a bigger picture.

"We still fight but we know that at the end of the day, we have these amazing children that need us. We promised each other never to go to bed angry."

Lopez also confessed that she had slumped into a depression brought on through overworking and was still reeling from the failure of her 2002 film Enough when the arrival of her twins revived her.

"I was like, 'I don't want to talk, I don't want to do anything.' My kids saved me," she added.
