Kate Hudson 'was cut off by parents'

Kate Hudson has revealed that her parents cut her off financially when she got her first role in a TV show at the age of 16.

The 31-year-old, who is the daughter of actress Goldie Hawn and singer Bill Hudson, said that her mother and father wanted her to appreciate the acting industry.

She told The Times: "My parents were like, 'We're not paying for anything ever again!' Ahahaha! My car would break down. Nothing. Everything in my life was broken in those early years."

Hawn and Bill divorced when Kate was a baby and the actress was raised by her mum and her long-term boyfriend, actor Kurt Russell. She explained that she was impressed by their work ethic and appreciation of one another's career.

Kate added: "I grew up with a mother who made comedies and a father who made more serious action-type films and dramas. And to me their work ethic was similar.

"They treated it as work. And neither one felt like it took more or less, simply because it was drama or comedy."
