Coleen Nolan 'was told to get gastric band'

Coleen Nolan has revealed that she was told to have a gastric band by a TV executive.

The Loose Women star recalled a meeting regarding a primetime show, in which she was advised to have the procedure to fit the look that producers had in mind for the programme.

"When I went into the first meeting I was so excited," she told The Mirror. "All the way through the meeting this man was staring at me really weirdly. He just said, 'I wonder what we're going to do about that,' all the while looking me up and down, nodding we'd have to do something about my weight. Oh my God, I was a size 14, hardly obese!

“Then came the biggest shock. He said, 'Well we really like you and we think you'll be great but we have a particular look in mind for the host. Everybody's going on about these gastric bands at the moment, why don't you think about that?' I was gobsmacked. It was such an eye opener and I thought if having a primetime show means having to wreck my life to be a size six, screw that!"

She added: "I can't think of a single fuller-figured woman on primetime TV any more. Even Vanessa [Feltz] has had a gastric band and is decreasing by the day. Fern Britton is slimmer than ever thanks to hers. Soon I'll be the only one left but if I have to be the poster girl, then bring it on!"
