The house where Brittany Murphy and her husband Simon Monjack died is to be sold at auction.

The Sin City actress passed away at her Hollywood Hills residence in December 2009 after suffering a cardiac arrest, while her writer partner died in May 2010. The cause of death in both cases was found to be pneumonia combined with anemia, prompting rumours that couple's home contained deposits of "toxic mould".

Murphy's mother Sharon initially put the house up for sale in March 2010 with an asking price of $7.25 million (£4.8 million), before removing it from the market the following month, just seven weeks before Monjack was found dead.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, over $4 million (£2.6 million) is still owed on the property, which will be auctioned off on Monday at a courthouse in Pamona, California.
