The 'Promise This' singer has been linked to the dancer due to their close friendship, with reports recently suggesting that they planned to live with each other in the US. However, Now claims that Cole is keen to establish herself in the country before becoming involved in a relationship.
"Cheryl doesn't want to be known as a dancer's girlfriend," a source told the magazine. "But she also doesn't want to seem heartless, so she's slowly distancing herself.
Hough has apparently turned to ex-girlfriend Shannon Elizabeth for support.
"Derek's finding it hard, so he's turning to Shannon for advice," the source added. "He wants to know if the false stories about his sexuality turned Cheryl off, in the same way they affected Shannon when they split in 2009."
