The couple, who will marry in Westminster Abbey on April 29, will send 2,000 invitations to family, friends and only those with connections to their private and public lives, according to The Sun.
However, close celebrity friends of Prince William, including Sir Elton John and David Beckham, will make the guest list. Sir Paul McCartney and Dame Helen Mirren are among those who have apparently been snubbed.
"William and Kate have agonised over who to invite," a source said. "They have drawn up a list of roughly 2,000 people they feel should be there. There's no room for the great and good you might normally see at society weddings."
The Lord Chamberlain's Office will be responsible for a further 3,000 invites, which will be used for politicians, foreign dignitaries and other public figures.
